There are two sides to Rethymno: the big beach hotel strip that stretches for miles down the coast (starts at BEACH above) and the Old Town (shown above). The Old Town is very nice with lots of good tavernas, shops, bars and restaurants.
The Fortress (Fortezza) dominates the city and is worth a visit.
Parking: many of the hotels in Rethymno Old Town (including Pepi Studios) have no vehicular access. This means that the best place to park any hire cars is in the 'Main Car Park' highlighted in the above map. Parking here costs 5EUR per day.
